Over this Thanksgiving holiday I was expecting my family to come into town for the weekend. My guest bedroom is a mess! Meaning it has almost everything in there but the kitchen sink to make it into a NY apartment! Okay, maybe not that bad, but It’s turned into my mothers personal closet/dressing room. Long story short cleaned it up as best as I could but I had to deal with the elephant in the room. Picture below. As you can see its old and seen better days. But I was in a jam and needed to do something QUICK. So this is what I ended up doing.
To secure the bottom and the sides I simply used some push pins to hold it in place. Now that the holidays are over looking at the fabric it gives me an idea that I just might use it to reupholster it sometime soon. For now I’ve gotta get back to my day job…transforming people with their beauty thru hairstyling.
Thanks for reading and see you guys again soon! Please leave any feedback or I for that might inspire or I can possibly help with.

SUNDAY FINDS
Some Sunday inspirational finds I came across this morning. Oh how I wish I had the room to store these guys until I could sell them. This chest needs a little sanding and staining. That’s all to restore it back to its original shine. The top tray could be lined with a colorful liner to give it a surprising personality when it’s open.
I could see these chairs in a funky fun color maybe a mint, turquoise or coral. With a graphic or floral print for the cushions. Because it’s two chairs available I’d place them in either end of a dining table. Remember, not all your chairs need to match.
I can picture this cabinet in a huge bathroom. The paint I’d swap out for white. Replace the hardware and the top doors with an etched glass door. Here’s an example of the etched glass.

HAPPY NEW YEAR/WISH LIST
Now that 2013 is gone. I’m looking forward to all great adventures of 2014 including taking on some Reno projects at my house. I came across somethings on Craigslist today. But I really wish I had a place to store all my pieces I come across that I could use for a future project for myself or a potential client. Here’s what I found:
The first thing that came to mind about these doors was designing a Moroccan theme room around these doors. They can be used as room dividers or pocket doors.
Im still on the hunt for a Queen headboard. Although, this stood out just a bit for me. But didn’t completely sell me just yet but thought I’d share it with you anyway. I’d just sand and paint this baby and call it a day!
Lastly I love this deco dresser. It could be used in multiple ways. As an entertainment center. Place under your wall mounted tv and store electronics, place some decorative picture frames with a nice floral arrangement. Or, it can be used as a double bathroom vanity. Of course, I’d change the hardware, sand and paint it. It be looking good as new!
What’s your New Years Resolutions this year, if you have any?
NATURE AND DESIGN
Mother Nature has her way of bringing out natural beauty. Below is a simple way of incorporating some into your own home. The parquet flooring left in its natural form gives a cute rustic feel to the living room. I like the sun beam mirror too which complements the decor. Thanks for viewing!!

Song of Style: Morning Chill
In my recent search for a topic to write about I came across Aimee Song a fellow blogger. Below are some pictures she took of her bedroom design (which is still a work in progress).Everything flows together without disrupting your eye flow. What attracted me most, is this high (tufted) headboard! The pillows are a nice break in color without taking away from the bed. I’m such a fan of mirrors above side tables. The antique mirrors gives the room some charm. To view Aimee’s blog you can check it out here. Happy hump day and thanks for viewing.
I’m back!!
Ok so I’ve been gone now for about a year and half. But while I’ve been away from posting anything here I’ve done a lot. I’ve moved to the sunshine state! That’s right Florida & I’ve put myself back in school & graduated a few months back. However, since this blog has cobwebs and all over it I’ll do my best to update it since a lot has changed since the last time I’ve posted something. Today I’d like to show you. Something old turned new.
Below I have some before and after pics of a bamboo chair that I’ve purchased off the infamous Craigslist site. You know everything is a chance and a gamble and I chance it every time I see something on this site. But when I went to purchase this chair I fell in love with it when I actually got to see it in person. The owner was a pleasant middle aged Asian man. The reason he was parting with this piece of furniture is because he didn’t have any use for it any longer as it was in storage. Like they say one man’s trash is another’s treasure. And in this case I scored BIG!! I have some other pieces I purchased again from the same infamous site but I’ll share those with you tomorrow or at a later date!
Tell me your thoughts on my chair.
p.s. He has more of these chairs so I plan to purchase some more. I guess it’s from a dinner set or something but I’d like to sell them as I get them.
A WORK In Progress
Finally I’ve started fixing up organizing my home office! I’m so excited because I have my decorative storage container (Ralph Lauren cookie jar) on my desk! I still have some more work to do to the room itself but I like where it’s going!
The desk needs some cleaning up. So I plan to sand/strip the paint off and give it a new coat of color! Also swap out the knobs with something SHINY!
Instead of throwing out your glass candle holders use them for something! Here’s what I did with mine. I cleaned out the wax with hot water & dish soap. Then replaced it with tiny sea shells and votive candles.
I did the same thing here with a larger one but instead I used it to hold my pens!
Happy Monday, first day of the work week!
Thanks for reading.
Working On A Pin Point Budget
Designed by Steven Gambrel, he transformed this beautiful Bronxville, New York home library (see below) into a lavish retreat. However, some of us may not have the same deep pockets to design such a lavish room.
The first place where you can start that’s the cheapest way is to freshen up your space is with a new coat of paint. It breaths life back into the room! Next accessories. As mentioned before in one of my old post just take something from another room. But make sure it serves a purpose while bringing function and style. It doesn’t makes sense to bring clutter into the new space. Check out your local antique, thrift, tag stores and let’s not forget the flea market. These places can be gold mines! What’s old is now new and what’s new is now being reproduced for 2x the price of what you just paid for in these places. You can also check out online sites such as E-bay, Etsy, Craigslist and E-bay Classifieds (formerly known as Kijiji).
Not everything you want to decorate has to be expensive. If you’re willing to put in a little elbow grease and research you’ll be well on your way with a new space transformed.
How would you transform your space? Where would you start? What would you keep or throw away? Send me your pictures and maybe I’ll post them.
