Some Sunday inspirational finds I came across this morning. Oh how I wish I had the room to store these guys until I could sell them. This chest needs a little sanding and staining. That’s all to restore it back to its original shine. The top tray could be lined with a colorful liner to give it a surprising personality when it’s open.
I could see these chairs in a funky fun color maybe a mint, turquoise or coral. With a graphic or floral print for the cushions. Because it’s two chairs available I’d place them in either end of a dining table. Remember, not all your chairs need to match.
I can picture this cabinet in a huge bathroom. The paint I’d swap out for white. Replace the hardware and the top doors with an etched glass door. Here’s an example of the etched glass.

HAPPY NEW YEAR/WISH LIST
Now that 2013 is gone. I’m looking forward to all great adventures of 2014 including taking on some Reno projects at my house. I came across somethings on Craigslist today. But I really wish I had a place to store all my pieces I come across that I could use for a future project for myself or a potential client. Here’s what I found:
The first thing that came to mind about these doors was designing a Moroccan theme room around these doors. They can be used as room dividers or pocket doors.
Im still on the hunt for a Queen headboard. Although, this stood out just a bit for me. But didn’t completely sell me just yet but thought I’d share it with you anyway. I’d just sand and paint this baby and call it a day!
Lastly I love this deco dresser. It could be used in multiple ways. As an entertainment center. Place under your wall mounted tv and store electronics, place some decorative picture frames with a nice floral arrangement. Or, it can be used as a double bathroom vanity. Of course, I’d change the hardware, sand and paint it. It be looking good as new!
What’s your New Years Resolutions this year, if you have any?
SWEET (DUVET) DREAMS
Gone are the days of heavy quilts or comforters taking up much needed space in your closet or under your bed. Now these versatile light weight interchangeable bedding covers are easy to store when not in use and doesn’t take up much space. So now you’ve got more room for the things you’d really like, such as new shoes and clothes! Lots of colors, patterns and best of all textures. How do you dress your bed for the different seasons?

IS THIS SEAT TAKEN?
When looking for chair(s) furniture we look for two things…comfort and style. However, in some cases comfort isn’t what your looking for, but more or less style to decorate a room. I’ve got a little bit of everything to give you some ideas for your next room! Take a look and tell me what styles you like to see in your next makeover. If you’ve got a little extra room in your kitchen you can possibly add a nook to give more seating for you and your family.
Love the colors in what looks like a formal living room. Don’t be afraid to bring in colors and different patterns.
Lucite (ghost) chairs work wonders. Here’s what I mean. If you have a small space the clearness of the chair gives the illusion that the room is bigger, because it’s not blocking any views. Add colorful pillows to bring life to the chair and give your room a little texture.
Patio furniture has come a long way with color too! If you’ve got patio furniture that’s in good condition try taking it on as a weekend project. A little sweat equity goes a long way plus you might just surprise yourself at what you can do.

HOLIDAY (TABLE) SCAPPING
It’s about that time of year again! Holiday lovers decorate their tables with their seasons essentials to bring together friends and family for a time of celebrations. Do you tablescape for the holidays? If not, there might be something to inspire you to add to your table this year. Add a little or a lot. Oh, I almost forgot what today is. Happy Halloween everyone! Be safe and enjoy!
P.S. Please send in pics of your table decorating.
SORRY, I’M ALREADY TAKEN
When was the last time you looked to Craigslist for furniture pieces?! Did you know its still a great place to look for hidden gems. I found this beauty below on the site, as excited as I was to be the potential owner someone else got to it before I did. Whomp Whomp! I have been looking so long for a queen headboard (+ footboard), to update my bed. The price was well in my budget ($25). My loss is now someone’s gain. I’m going to have to keep a close eye on the site to make sure I don’t miss another gorgeous find.
Here are a few of my tips on what I would’ve done, if I got to it first! Because my side tables are black and the room theme is romantic with a touch of glam.
– Change the wood stain to a high gloss black.
I love the rattan inserts however, I would’ve like to show off the line details of the headboard. –
– Replace it with some pops of color, like this:What I love about this fabric is the pop of colors. Because of the romantic theme space; you’ve gotta add some red. I love birds and Chinese ancient history. I naturally gravitated towards this because of its portrait of nature and history.
IT’S ALL IN THE DETAILS
It’s been a while since I’ve found an inspirational piece to share with you all. But I think this maybe worth the wait. If I had the room or could remodel one for a client, I’d like to purchase this gem and turn it into a bathroom vanity.
What I LOVE most about this piece is its details throughout!
Here’s what I would do:
– Apply polyurethane, to bring the sparkle and shine back to life.
– Add new hardware (crystal/glass) to the draws and doors.
– Replace the top with quartz, and a modern sink.
Below are some ideas of what I have in mind for the sink and countertop.
Last but not least for this dresser I’d remove the wheels from the bottom. I can always use those for another project.
I’ve always been a fan of these side tables. They look excellent in an entryway or a foyer. Again nothing much I’d change other then add a mirror inside to show off the details.
Happy HUMP DAY EVERYONE, enjoy the rest of your week. Please leave your thoughts, suggestions. Or share some of your work with me.
What’s That Smell?!
I started writing this on my Facebook page until I realized I haven’t posted anything on here this week.
Believe it or not but, I’m a candle lover!!! One of the things I’d like to share with you guys are the candles I buy. My scents may not be the same as yours. BUT if you love scented candles as much as I do, I won’t steer you in the wrong direction when it comes to the brands. This brand I haven’t seen before but when I opened the box it had me in a trans (it spoke to me). I tend to gravitate towards things that do that. Anywho! What I most enjoy about this candle is the fact that when I took it out the box. Let it sit on my dresser across from my bed for a little while, I could smell it from across the room. So I decided to light it up and enjoy the scents. The back of the box reads, “sandlewood, star anise, and patchouli are, accented with the sweetness of vanilla and caramel praline”. It has a little sweetness and wood smell. Which mainly is from the sandlewood. It’s a more masculine smell but not too over powering.
This other candle I noticed was by the same company so I decided to give this one a shot as well. From the smell of it has a clean crisp feeling. Kind of like fresh washed linens. As you can see I found this in HomeGoods so if you have one near you look for them. I’m going to have to go back for the larger one tomorrow ($30). Boy is it worth it! If you’d like to see their website check it out here NEST FRAGRANCES But I’ll let you know how the other candle smells when I light that one too. Enjoy your Thursday night!
WEEKEND ORGANIZING
It’s a New Year so that means in with the new and out with the old! So how are you organizing your home? BHG has some great ideas. Such as this image below. Mason jars are excellent for organizing your toiletries in the bathroom. Stack your towels in an open shelf above your toilet or below your vanity if you have room.
Another great organizing solution is to store any unused towels, paper towels, or toilet paper in your laundry room (again only if you have room). I know some laundry rooms are small but this is easy to accomplish in any room really. Most of the time we only look at the floor space and forget all about, the “wall space”. Don’t be afraid to hang some cabinets or open shelves to store items you need. Sara Richardson displays this from the picture above. I’m also a fan of trays being used in different ways. She has all the detergents and other stain removers all neatly placed in a tray. It looks so put together and organized. Thanks for viewing have a great weekend everyone!
p.s. I’m going to work on my chair I wrote about the other day So hopefully I’ll have some work in progress photos to upload before the weekend is done.
NATURE AND DESIGN
Mother Nature has her way of bringing out natural beauty. Below is a simple way of incorporating some into your own home. The parquet flooring left in its natural form gives a cute rustic feel to the living room. I like the sun beam mirror too which complements the decor. Thanks for viewing!!
