Temporary Love Seat Cover

Over this Thanksgiving holiday I was expecting my family to come into town for the weekend. My guest bedroom is a mess! Meaning it has almost everything in there but the kitchen sink to make it into a NY apartment! Okay, maybe not that bad, but It’s turned into my mothers personal closet/dressing room. Long story short cleaned it up as best as I could but I had to deal with the elephant in the room. Picture below.
IMG_3175.JPGIMG_3176.JPGAs you can see its old and seen better days. But I was in a jam and needed to do something QUICK. So this is what I ended up doing.IMG_3177.JPGIMG_3179.JPGIMG_3178.JPGTo secure the bottom and the sides I simply used some push pins to hold it in place. Now that the holidays are over looking at the fabric it gives me an idea that I just might use it to reupholster it sometime soon. For now I’ve gotta get back to my day job…transforming people with their beauty thru hairstyling.
Thanks for reading and see you guys again soon! Please leave any feedback or I for that might inspire or I can possibly help with.

MIDNIGHT NAUTICAL

Browsing around today in my local Marshall’s I came across this beautiful candle lantern. It inspired me to illustrate on how I would decorate a bachelor pad’s bedroom.
20140116-212845.jpgThe store had two available which would be perfect for the space. Let me help paint the picture for you.
This room has warm neutral wall coloring. However to add a little more contrast I’ll add in some wainscoting and paint it. Below are some examples of what I have in mind.
20140116-225534.jpgThe picture above was a perfect find! The bottom wall color I would use exactly as is but in the bedroom. 20140116-225642.jpg This color swatch would be the wall paint. A few generic pictures would lay along the walls. Now here’s where the fun comes in. Those candle lanterns would be hung from a wrought iron hook above these (below pic) side tables by the bed.
20140118-102947.jpg The decorative throw pillows would be made of this fabric. It ties in from the actual ropes on the candle lantern.
20140118-103158.jpgThe bed covering would be displayed as a duvet cover. Again I’m taking some color from the walls and bringing it to the bed to tie the colors together.
20140118-105314.jpg Windows will be draped in the fabric shown below. I chose this because of the lines again reminding me the ties and knots to again pull together a nautical theme.

20140118-105938.jpgI love grommet hole drapes. Their easy to open and close. I love the pleating look it gives when open. So yes, just replace the fabric and you’ll have my design. The flooring is a dark stained hardwood as seen below with a area rug below the bed.
So now that you’ve read my visual design on a nautical bachelor pad. What do you think? Can you envision it?

HAPPY NEW YEAR/WISH LIST

Now that 2013 is gone. I’m looking forward to all great adventures of 2014 including taking on some Reno projects at my house. I came across somethings on Craigslist today. But I really wish I had a place to store all my pieces I come across that I could use for a future project for myself or a potential client. Here’s what I found:
20140101-172112.jpgThe first thing that came to mind about these doors was designing a Moroccan theme room around these doors. They can be used as room dividers or pocket doors.
20140101-173901.jpgIm still on the hunt for a Queen headboard. Although, this stood out just a bit for me. But didn’t completely sell me just yet but thought I’d share it with you anyway. I’d just sand and paint this baby and call it a day!
20140101-174405.jpgLastly I love this deco dresser. It could be used in multiple ways. As an entertainment center. Place under your wall mounted tv and store electronics, place some decorative picture frames with a nice floral arrangement. Or, it can be used as a double bathroom vanity. Of course, I’d change the hardware, sand and paint it. It be looking good as new!
What’s your New Years Resolutions this year, if you have any?

IT’S ALL IN THE DETAILS

It’s been a while since I’ve found an inspirational piece to share with you all. But I think this maybe worth the wait. If I had the room or could remodel one for a client, I’d like to purchase this gem and turn it into a bathroom vanity.

20131015-111051.jpg What I LOVE most about this piece is its details throughout!

Here’s what I would do:

– Apply polyurethane, to bring the sparkle and shine back to life.
– Add new hardware (crystal/glass) to the draws and doors.
– Replace the top with quartz, and a modern sink.

Below are some ideas of what I have in mind for the sink and countertop.

Last but not least for this dresser I’d remove the wheels from the bottom. I can always use those for another project.

I’ve always been a fan of these side tables. They look excellent in an entryway or a foyer. Again nothing much I’d change other then add a mirror inside to show off the details.

Happy HUMP DAY EVERYONE, enjoy the rest of your week. Please leave your thoughts, suggestions. Or share some of your work with me.

Console Treats

Console Tables I feel have come a long way since the earlier decade. The designs and use for them have changed. Long gone are the bland tables in your foyer or behind the sofa. One of my favorite stores to visit when I’m back home is Lillian August. They’ve come along way and now their stores are popping up all across the country.
Below are some pieces I adore and find inspirational.

Victor Mirror Console

Royere Console

The renaissance copper finish I just adore! The glass shelving below allows more space to store decorative pieces.

Syrah Console

The first piece I admire the most (Victor Mirror Console). Anything mirrored, silver & black it’s my go to! I don’t know why but I gravitate towards this for some reason. Maybe it’s the glamor of black and mirror that gets me. Now off to see what other goodies I can find. Some of these items are so tempting I might have to buy something and mail it back to FL.

Thanks for viewing & enjoy your Monday…
