Browsing around today in my local Marshall’s I came across this beautiful candle lantern. It inspired me to illustrate on how I would decorate a bachelor pad’s bedroom. The store had two available which would be perfect for the space. Let me help paint the picture for you.
This room has warm neutral wall coloring. However to add a little more contrast I’ll add in some wainscoting and paint it. Below are some examples of what I have in mind. The picture above was a perfect find! The bottom wall color I would use exactly as is but in the bedroom.
This color swatch would be the wall paint. A few generic pictures would lay along the walls. Now here’s where the fun comes in. Those candle lanterns would be hung from a wrought iron hook above these (below pic) side tables by the bed.
The decorative throw pillows would be made of this fabric. It ties in from the actual ropes on the candle lantern.
The bed covering would be displayed as a duvet cover. Again I’m taking some color from the walls and bringing it to the bed to tie the colors together.
Windows will be draped in the fabric shown below. I chose this because of the lines again reminding me the ties and knots to again pull together a nautical theme.
I love grommet hole drapes. Their easy to open and close. I love the pleating look it gives when open. So yes, just replace the fabric and you’ll have my design. The flooring is a dark stained hardwood as seen below with a area rug below the bed.
So now that you’ve read my visual design on a nautical bachelor pad. What do you think? Can you envision it?

IS THIS SEAT TAKEN?
When looking for chair(s) furniture we look for two things…comfort and style. However, in some cases comfort isn’t what your looking for, but more or less style to decorate a room. I’ve got a little bit of everything to give you some ideas for your next room! Take a look and tell me what styles you like to see in your next makeover. If you’ve got a little extra room in your kitchen you can possibly add a nook to give more seating for you and your family.
Love the colors in what looks like a formal living room. Don’t be afraid to bring in colors and different patterns.
Lucite (ghost) chairs work wonders. Here’s what I mean. If you have a small space the clearness of the chair gives the illusion that the room is bigger, because it’s not blocking any views. Add colorful pillows to bring life to the chair and give your room a little texture.
Patio furniture has come a long way with color too! If you’ve got patio furniture that’s in good condition try taking it on as a weekend project. A little sweat equity goes a long way plus you might just surprise yourself at what you can do.

What’s That Smell?!
I started writing this on my Facebook page until I realized I haven’t posted anything on here this week.
Believe it or not but, I’m a candle lover!!! One of the things I’d like to share with you guys are the candles I buy. My scents may not be the same as yours. BUT if you love scented candles as much as I do, I won’t steer you in the wrong direction when it comes to the brands. This brand I haven’t seen before but when I opened the box it had me in a trans (it spoke to me). I tend to gravitate towards things that do that. Anywho! What I most enjoy about this candle is the fact that when I took it out the box. Let it sit on my dresser across from my bed for a little while, I could smell it from across the room. So I decided to light it up and enjoy the scents. The back of the box reads, “sandlewood, star anise, and patchouli are, accented with the sweetness of vanilla and caramel praline”. It has a little sweetness and wood smell. Which mainly is from the sandlewood. It’s a more masculine smell but not too over powering.
This other candle I noticed was by the same company so I decided to give this one a shot as well. From the smell of it has a clean crisp feeling. Kind of like fresh washed linens. As you can see I found this in HomeGoods so if you have one near you look for them. I’m going to have to go back for the larger one tomorrow ($30). Boy is it worth it! If you’d like to see their website check it out here NEST FRAGRANCES But I’ll let you know how the other candle smells when I light that one too. Enjoy your Thursday night!
Eye Candy: Master Bedroom
I know it’s only Tuesday and while most people are going onto their second day of work. In my line of business Tuesday’s are considered my first day back to work. In any event I didn’t want to get out of bed. But since I love what I do, I’ve got to rise and shine. So here’s to everyone who loves their bedroom as much as I love mine.
A dark accent wall against this tufted headboard gives the bed a focal point. This way the bed doesn’t get lost within the four white walls. The matching chrome seating gives the room a touch of glam. While the hardwood floors breathes warmth into the air.
Speaking of glam. I’m a sucker when it comes to black, white and anything mirrored as my room is based on this color palate. I love how all the colors come together and the chandelier takes it up a notch in the decor.
A simple yet comfortable New York apartment bedroom. White crisp sheets and a down comforter. I think I might just have to call out sick…ahh chew!
Bonus: After getting your beauty rest the next place to go is makeup and hair! Who wouldn’t love to get ready in a vanity room like this.
Console Treats
Console Tables I feel have come a long way since the earlier decade. The designs and use for them have changed. Long gone are the bland tables in your foyer or behind the sofa. One of my favorite stores to visit when I’m back home is Lillian August. They’ve come along way and now their stores are popping up all across the country.
Below are some pieces I adore and find inspirational.
The renaissance copper finish I just adore! The glass shelving below allows more space to store decorative pieces.
The first piece I admire the most (Victor Mirror Console). Anything mirrored, silver & black it’s my go to! I don’t know why but I gravitate towards this for some reason. Maybe it’s the glamor of black and mirror that gets me. Now off to see what other goodies I can find. Some of these items are so tempting I might have to buy something and mail it back to FL.
Thanks for viewing & enjoy your Monday…
Pieces I adore
The other day I shared with a recent find on the infamous “Craigslist”. Well I’ve come across some other fabulous items I picked up over the weekend. I originally went to buy this table. But ended up coming back the next day for another which I also have show further below in my post.
When I saw this table it was like love at first sight! I kept going back to the site to see if it was still available and after enough thought I decided to call to see if it was still available. As to my relief it was still for sale! The former owner told me that she was having a garage sale and I asked her to please keep it to the side for me as I don’t want to chance it being put out & accidently sold to someone else. The next day as promised it was left inside for the new owner (me) to purchase. It would look lovely as a side table in a formal living room but for now it looks just as good in my bedroom. I didn’t realize that it came with a draw until when I picked it up. It’s perfect for little storage items. As I opened the draw I found some stampings in and below the draw that told me it was manufactured by Huntington. So just as I suspected this was made by one of the best!!
Just as I was leaving to put my new table in my car. I couldn’t help but noticed this other fancy item. The woman told me that all the proceeds were going to a charity for war veterans with disabilities. Which I was happy to I’m helping a good cause!
- Very similar if not like the one from the Cococozy website. See below.
But as a temporary fix I just put some of the remaining fabric I had from my previous chair on this until I get my tools down here from CT to start upholstering it and putting the final touches to it.
I can’t wait to show you the final touches to both the table & chair. Oh I almost forgot to mention they look very well together as a pair. If you haven’t notice they have the same ratton/wicker texture on them both. Who would’ve thought?!
Enjoy your mid-day Wednesday weekday!!
I’m back!!
Ok so I’ve been gone now for about a year and half. But while I’ve been away from posting anything here I’ve done a lot. I’ve moved to the sunshine state! That’s right Florida & I’ve put myself back in school & graduated a few months back. However, since this blog has cobwebs and all over it I’ll do my best to update it since a lot has changed since the last time I’ve posted something. Today I’d like to show you. Something old turned new.
Below I have some before and after pics of a bamboo chair that I’ve purchased off the infamous Craigslist site. You know everything is a chance and a gamble and I chance it every time I see something on this site. But when I went to purchase this chair I fell in love with it when I actually got to see it in person. The owner was a pleasant middle aged Asian man. The reason he was parting with this piece of furniture is because he didn’t have any use for it any longer as it was in storage. Like they say one man’s trash is another’s treasure. And in this case I scored BIG!! I have some other pieces I purchased again from the same infamous site but I’ll share those with you tomorrow or at a later date!
Tell me your thoughts on my chair.
p.s. He has more of these chairs so I plan to purchase some more. I guess it’s from a dinner set or something but I’d like to sell them as I get them.
Working On A Pin Point Budget
Designed by Steven Gambrel, he transformed this beautiful Bronxville, New York home library (see below) into a lavish retreat. However, some of us may not have the same deep pockets to design such a lavish room.
The first place where you can start that’s the cheapest way is to freshen up your space is with a new coat of paint. It breaths life back into the room! Next accessories. As mentioned before in one of my old post just take something from another room. But make sure it serves a purpose while bringing function and style. It doesn’t makes sense to bring clutter into the new space. Check out your local antique, thrift, tag stores and let’s not forget the flea market. These places can be gold mines! What’s old is now new and what’s new is now being reproduced for 2x the price of what you just paid for in these places. You can also check out online sites such as E-bay, Etsy, Craigslist and E-bay Classifieds (formerly known as Kijiji).
Not everything you want to decorate has to be expensive. If you’re willing to put in a little elbow grease and research you’ll be well on your way with a new space transformed.
How would you transform your space? Where would you start? What would you keep or throw away? Send me your pictures and maybe I’ll post them.
